MEA scoops grand prize at first Scottish PR awards

MEA PR last week scooped the Grand Prix prize for its work on HCI International Medical Centre at the first ever Scottish PR awards in Glasgow.

The awards, organised by The Drum magazine and the Scottish IPR, and judged by a panel including PRWeek editor Kate Nicholas, were spread across 14 categories and included campaign, individual and company prizes.

MEA topped the awards, winning the Best Public Affairs Campaign and the Best Consumer Campaign for its work on HCI International Medical Centre, the Glasgow private hospital that almost went bust shortly after launching in 1994.

Edinburgh-based Atlantic PR was named Best Consultancy and North of Scotland Water Authority's communications department took the Beset In-house Team title.

In the campaigns sections Scottish Gas won Best CSR Campaign for work entitled Carbon Monoxide.
3X1 scooped Best B2B Campaign for Highland Spring while the Royal Air Force was commended in the Best Crisis Management Campaign section for its handling of an accident between RAF and US air force pilots on routine training exercise.
